Mayra Valdez | Senior Associate

Mayra Valdez joined Siegel Long Public Affairs in the fall of 2021. At SLPA, Mayra focuses on tax policy, birth justice and immigrant rights, drawing on a deep commitment to social and economic justice. She has been instrumental in several major policy wins, including the creation of the first-in-the-nation Benefit Recovery Fund, the Family Affordability Tax Credit, and the expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit. Her work also includes advancing immigration policy by helping limit local government agreements with ICE and strengthening Colorado’s protections for immigrant communities.

A proud graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver, Mayra holds a B.A. in Political Science. Growing up in North Aurora, Mayra has cultivated deep, trusted relationships with legislators and remains deeply committed to the state of Colorado. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time in the mountains, or relaxing at home on the weekends.
